Everywhere you are
iPhone and iPad
The iOS apps, and what is specific to them.
iPhone
The full product, plus a few things only iOS can do:
- Widgets on the home screen, lock screen and in Control Centre. See widgets
- Siri and Shortcuts. See Siri and Shortcuts
- Apple Reminders sync, two-way. See Apple Reminders
- The share sheet, from any app. See the share sheet
- Apple Watch, if you have one. See Apple Watch
iPad
Everything the iPhone does, plus the wide-screen layout: a persistent sidebar, list tabs and a right-hand panel. See on a big screen.
With a keyboard attached it behaves like the desktop. Every keyboard shortcut works, including Shift-click ranges on a trackpad. If you use an iPad with a Magic Keyboard, read the desktop guidance rather than the mobile guidance.
Worth setting up
- 1
A lock screen widget
Removes the app-opening step entirely, which is the single biggest change you can make to capture.
- 2
Notification permission
Without it, reminders cannot reach you and no in-app setting can fix that.
- 3
A Shortcut for Siri
Speaking a thing while your hands are busy is the capture route people keep.
