Every keyboard shortcut can be changed, and a few ship with no keys at all.

Rebinding

Open Settings Advanced Keyboard Shortcuts, find the action, and record a new chord.

Why some ship unassigned

A chord that looks free often is not.

Select-and-extend, for example, ships unbound because the obvious choice collides with the system shortcut for selecting text to the top of a thing. Rather than silently breaking text editing, NewTwos leaves those to you.

Which to learn

Three, not thirty:

ActionWhy
⌘KWrite something from anywhere
⌘/Find anything
⌘DThe action you perform most

After those, nav positions one and two cover most navigation. See getting around.

Going further

Shortcuts are skipped while you are typing inside a thing, so they never fight text editing. ⌘⇧⏎ is the bridge from editing into acting.

The desktop global hotkey is different. Quick Capture registers at the operating system level, so it works when NewTwos is not focused, and it must not collide with anything else on your machine. See Quick Capture.

Browser extensions can steal a chord before the page sees it. If one stops working in the browser and works in the desktop app, that is why. Rebind rather than fight it.

Tips

  • Do not rebind until something annoys you. The defaults are chosen to avoid collisions.
  • If you rebind heavily, the reference page still shows defaults, so keep a note of your own.
