Customize the edit bar and selection bar
Both action bars show a few actions and hide the rest. Which few is up to you.
Customizing the bars is part of NewTwos Plus. Plus
Why you'd care
Each bar shows a handful of actions before the rest go behind a More sheet. Getting your real four into those slots removes a tap from the actions you perform dozens of times a day.
This is the highest-frequency customization in the app.
The two bars
The edit bar appears while you are editing a thing. Candidates: indent, outdent, to-do toggle, reminder, photo, tag, note, divider, move.
The selection bar appears when things are selected. Candidates: move, tag, complete, delete, share, reminder, format. Plus
Choosing well
Watch yourself for a day. The actions you reach for are rarely the ones you would have guessed.
For most people the selection bar wants Move and Tag first, because those are the two that pay off most in bulk.
Going further
Some actions are locked in place, since a bar without its core actions would be broken. Everything else is free to move.
Order is per bar. The edit bar and selection bar are configured separately, because the useful actions genuinely differ.
Settings that change this
- Settings Appearance & Accessibility Customize selection actions orders the selection bar. Plus
- Settings Appearance & Accessibility Expand bar shows more actions at once.
- Settings Appearance & Accessibility Left-handed mode moves the primary controls.
Tips
- Put Tag in the first four of the selection bar. Tagging ten things at once is the biggest single time saver available.
- If you never open the More sheet, your first four are right.
