Make it yours
Where the app opens
The view NewTwos opens on, every time.
Start-on is part of NewTwos Plus.
Why you'd care
You see this view more than any other, several times a day, for years. It quietly decides what the app is for you.
Opening on Today makes NewTwos a place you write. Opening on Home makes it a place you review. Opening on a specific list makes it a tool for one job.
The 60-second version
Set it in Settings Appearance & Accessibility Start on.
Choosing well
Today if you mostly capture. This is the right answer for most people, and it is the default.
Capture if you write at length and the list is a distraction.
Home if you mostly review rather than write.
A specific list if NewTwos is doing one job for you right now, like a project or a trip.
Going further
Pair it with quick view. Set start-on and quick view to different places and you have two one-action destinations. Landing on Today with quick view pointed at Capture is a good combination. See quick view.
Never push, always land. The start view is where the app opens rather than somewhere it navigates to, so the back behaviour stays sensible.
Settings that change this
- Settings Appearance & Accessibility Start on sets the landing view.
- Settings Appearance & Accessibility Quick view sets the quick view destination.
Tips
- Change this before changing anything else. It has more effect on how the app feels than every appearance setting combined.
- If you are not sure, leave it on Today. It is the default for good reason.
