Find anything
Quick view
One shortcut that takes you to one place you choose, from anywhere.
Why you'd care
There is usually one destination you return to more than any other. Quick view binds it to a single action so getting there never costs more than that.
The 60-second version
Set the destination in Settings Appearance & Accessibility Quick view, then press ⌘⇧0 from anywhere.
iPhone, iPad, and Android
On mobile the same destination is what pulling down takes you to. See pull to capture.
Going further
Quick view and start-on are different. Start-on is where the app opens. Quick view is where this shortcut goes. Setting them to different places gives you two one-action destinations rather than one. See where the app opens.
A common pairing: start on Today, quick view to Capture. You land where you read and are one action from where you write.
Settings that change this
- Settings Appearance & Accessibility Quick view sets the destination.
- Settings Appearance & Accessibility Start on sets the launch view.
Tips
- Point it at a specific list if you spend all day in one. It does not have to be a view.
- If start-on and quick view are the same place, you are wasting one of them.
