Each is independent.
Why email rather than in-app
The weekly recap works precisely because it is not in the app.
A review view requires you to remember to open it, which is the thing people do not do. An email arrives whether or not you thought about it, and reading it takes thirty seconds. That is why it produces a weekly review habit when an in-app equivalent does not.
Going further
Collaboration emails can get noisy. On an active shared list they arrive constantly. Turn them off and rely on in-app notifications, or silence that list. See collaborate on a list.

- Keep the weekly recap and turn off the rest. It is the one with a genuine payoff.
