Theme, colours and fonts
Light or dark, an accent colour, and the typeface everything is set in.
Theme
Settings Appearance & Accessibility Theme switches between light, dark and following your system. System is the right default, since it follows your device through the day.
Colour themes
The accent colour used throughout the app: buttons, highlights, the current day. Settings Appearance & Accessibility Color Themes Plus
The accent is genuinely functional rather than decorative. It marks what is current and what is actionable, so a colour you can distinguish easily is worth more than one you merely like.
Fonts
Settings Appearance & Accessibility Font changes the typeface. Plus
OpenDyslexic is included. If you find reading long lists tiring, it is worth trying regardless of whether you have a diagnosis. It is not a novelty font.
Going further
Days and lists can override the app. A specific day or list can carry its own background and text colour, independent of your theme. See dressing up a day.
Text size is separate. Font choice and text scale are different settings. See text size and spacing.
Settings that change this
- Settings Appearance & Accessibility Theme light, dark or system.
- Settings Appearance & Accessibility Color Themes the accent colour. Plus
- Settings Appearance & Accessibility Font the typeface. Plus
- Settings Appearance & Accessibility Wallpaper the surface behind everything. Plus
Tips
- Pick a high-contrast accent. A pale accent on a pale theme makes the app harder to use, not prettier.
- If you use two accounts, give them different colour themes. It is the fastest way to know which one you are in.
