Microsoft Loop

Bringing a Microsoft Loop page into NewTwos by copying and pasting it.

Before you start#

Loop is the one source here with no export file. There is no Markdown, no JSON, and no Word export, only "Print to PDF", which is not something an importer can read. So the way in is to copy the page.

Open the page in Loop, click into the content, select all of it, copy, and paste it in Settings → Advanced → Microsoft Loop. You will see the same preview every other import shows, and nothing is created until you approve it.

If you use a browser extension that converts a Loop page to Markdown, you can choose that .md file instead.

What comes across#

Checkboxes as to-dos, bullets and numbered items as things, headers as headers, and indentation as nesting. Links and #tags are picked up the same way they are in any Markdown import.

Task lists are different#

A task list in Loop is not really Loop data. Those tasks are stored in Microsoft Planner, which means they can be synced properly rather than pasted once. Connect your account instead and they keep arriving on their own. See Microsoft To Do and Loop.

Use this page for prose, notes, and checklists on a Loop page. Use the connection for task lists.

Tips#

• Paste one page at a time. Each paste becomes one list, so a page per list keeps the result tidy.
• Loop pages tend to accumulate meeting scraps. Pasting is a good moment to drop the ones that are finished.
