Calendars and birthdays
Two one-off imports: a calendar file, and a set of birthdays.
Importing an .ics file
Settings Advanced Import from calendar (.ics) imports a calendar file as things with reminders.
This is a one-off import, not a subscription. Nothing stays in sync afterwards. For an ongoing connection, use calendar sync instead. See Apple and Google Calendar.
Good for a conference schedule, a term timetable or a fixture list: things you want in NewTwos once, that will not change.
Importing birthdays
Birthdays can be imported from an .ics or CSV export, from Facebook, Google or iCloud, and become yearly repeating reminders.
That is the right shape for a birthday: it recurs forever, it is all-day, and it does not need a lead time longer than a day or two. See repeating reminders.
Tips
- Import birthdays once and never think about them again. It is one of the highest-value five-minute jobs in the product.
- Give the imported reminders a lead time of a day, so you have time to actually do something.
