NewTwos as an assistant
Three AI surfaces, used for the three different jobs they are actually good at.
The scenario
You have a lot written down and you would rather ask a question than construct a search.
Set it up once
- 1
Leave detection on
Dates and to-dos recognised as you type, offered rather than applied. See Smart Suggestions.
- 2
Connect MCP to your assistant
So capture can happen inside a conversation you were already having. See MCP.
- 3
Decide what stays off
Every layer has its own switch. See turning AI off.
Which surface for which job
| Job | Use |
|---|---|
| A question about everything you wrote | Chat |
| A question about things in front of you | Ask AI |
| Capture from inside another conversation | MCP |
| The obvious next action on a thing | Smart Suggestions |
The rhythm
Ask when you cannot remember the words. "What did I say about the roof" works where a keyword search does not.
Ask for a list, not an essay. Specific requests produce useful answers, vague ones produce confident nonsense.
Check what it cites. If an answer looks wrong it usually is. The things it points at are the truth, not the summary.
Make it yours
- Start read-only on MCP for a few days before letting an assistant write.
- Be specific with instructions. "Add these twelve to my grocery list" works. "Tidy up my lists" does not.
- Turn off what annoys you rather than the whole layer. Suggestions are the noisiest part. See turning AI off.
What this looks like after a month
You stop searching for things you half remember and start asking. Capture happens in the middle of conversations you were already having. And the parts you turned off you do not miss, which is the point of them being separate switches.
