Turning AI off
AI is layered, and every layer can be turned off independently.
Why you'd care
"AI on or off" is too blunt. Plenty of people want text read from their photos and do not want a chat assistant, or want suggestions and not automatic conversions.

Going further
The master switch is the complete answer. With Settings Smart Features AI features off, nothing in this chapter runs, including Ramble.
Turning it off does not remove anything. Existing extracted photo text, converted to-dos and set reminders all remain. They were changes to your things, not AI features that stop working.
Photo text can be purged. If you want the extracted text removed rather than merely stopped, that is available alongside the setting.
Your own key is an option. Rather than turning AI off, you can point it at your own OpenAI key. See use your own OpenAI key.
Tips
- Turn off suggestions first if AI feels intrusive. It is the layer you notice most.
- Keep photo text on even if you turn off everything else. It is the one with the clearest payoff and the least intrusion.
