Why you'd care
Two reasons, and they are different people.
Control. Your usage goes through your own account, with your own billing and your own provider relationship.
Capability. A newer or larger model than the default, for chat answers over a big account.
Before you start
- An OpenAI account with billing set up. A key with no credit will simply fail.
- The key itself, which you generate in your OpenAI account.
Connect
Add the key in Settings Smart Features Use your own OpenAI key, then pick a model.
What changes
The AI features work as before and run against your key. Nothing about how you use NewTwos changes.
Removing it
Delete the key in settings. AI features return to the default provider.

Tips
- Most people do not need this. The default works and costs nothing.
- If you do use it, set a spending limit in your OpenAI account rather than trusting your own restraint.
