Confetti and sounds
Checking something off can produce confetti, a sound, both, or nothing.
Why you'd care
Completion feedback is the smallest reward loop in the app and the one you trigger most. Some people want it loud and some want silence, and both are one setting away.
What you can change
Confetti has different types, colours, and even custom emoji rather than shapes.
Completion sounds can be chosen or turned off. Plus
Going further
Sound mixes rather than interrupting. A completion sound plays over music or a podcast without pausing it, which is exactly what you want when working through a list with something on in the background.
Focus has its own sound. The focus timer's completion sound is set separately, in Settings Appearance & Accessibility Focus completion sound.
Silence is a first-class choice. Turning both off leaves a completely quiet app, and nothing else changes.
Settings that change this
- Settings Appearance & Accessibility Confetti chooses the confetti.
- Settings Appearance & Accessibility Completion Sound chooses the sound. Plus
- Settings Appearance & Accessibility Focus completion sound sets the focus timer's sound.
- Settings Appearance & Accessibility Default focus time sets the default focus duration. Plus
Tips
- Custom emoji confetti on one specific list is a genuinely nice touch for a shared or personal milestone list.
- If you work with headphones on all day, a quiet sound beats confetti. It registers without taking your eyes off anything.
