Save and freeze a streak
Streak protection keeps a streak alive through a day you missed.
Streak protection is part of NewTwos Plus. Plus
Why you'd care
Long streaks fail on the days you had no choice: illness, travel, a genuinely bad week. Losing three hundred days to one of those is the moment most people stop caring about streaks entirely, and often about the habit with it.
Protection is the release valve.
How it works
A missed day can be saved or frozen so the chain continues. It is finite rather than unlimited, which is what keeps a streak meaningful.
Going further
It is not a way to skip habitually. Used every week the number stops meaning anything, and the number is the only thing it does.
The longest streak is a separate record. Even without protection, a broken current streak does not erase what you achieved.
Tips
- Save the day you were ill, not the day you could not be bothered. You will know which is which.
- If you find yourself needing protection regularly, the streak is not the right motivator for you. Hide it and keep writing.
