List, Gallery and Board

A list can be shown as rows, as a grid of photos, or as a board of columns.

Layouts are part of NewTwos Plus.

Board

Board turns headings into columns. A thing under a heading appears in that column, and dragging it to another column moves it under that heading. So the board is a view of the same list, not a separate structure.

That means you can flip between List and Board on the same list and both stay correct. See headings and subheadings.

Gallery arranges things as a grid, sized around their photos. It is the right answer for a list of screenshots, recipes or places, and the wrong one for anything mostly textual.

For controlling how photos look in the ordinary List layout instead, see photo sizes and the gallery.

Going further

Layout is per list. It is remembered on the list itself, so a board stays a board when you come back.

Board wants headings first. A list with no headings has nothing to make columns from. Add two or three headings, then switch.

Sorting still applies inside a column. Auto-sort and manual order both work within each column rather than being overridden.

Tips

  • Three or four columns is the useful range. A board with nine columns is a spreadsheet wearing a costume.
  • If a board feels wrong, the list probably has stages that are really just to-dos in order.
