Memories: on this day

iPhoneiPadAndroidWebMacWindowsLinuxWatchUpdated 2026-08-18

Everything you wrote on this date in previous years, in one place.

Why you'd care

This is the compounding part of NewTwos. Every ordinary day you write on becomes something that comes back, and the value grows with no further effort from you.

It is also the strongest argument for writing down small things. A to-do list is worthless a year later. A line about what happened is not.

The 60-second version

Open Memories from the nav bar or side menu. Days from previous years appear.

The same material can also show at the top of Today. See on this day: past years.

Keeping things out

Not everything should come back. A thing or a whole list can be hidden from memories, which matters for grief, health, or anything you would rather choose to revisit rather than be handed.

This is worth setting up before you need it rather than after.

Going further

It needs a year. In your first year this view is mostly empty, which is expected. It is the one feature that improves purely by time passing.

Photos carry hardest. A photographed ordinary day beats a written one for recall, which is a decent argument for taking more mundane photos.

Memories versus memory. This view is calendar-based, showing what happens to share a date. Memory is a thing you deliberately marked. See memory.

Tips

  • Write one line a day about the day, not just to-dos. That single habit is what makes this view worth opening in a year.
  • Check the hide setting on any list holding difficult material, early.
