Bold, italic, and underline
Bold, italic, underline and strikethrough work on any thing, on every plan.
Why you'd care
A line with one bold phrase is far easier to scan six months later than an unformatted one. This is the cheapest thing you can do to make your own writing findable.
The shortcuts

Select part of a thing to format just that part, or use the shortcut with no selection to format the whole line.
Going further
Formatting is stored as ranges, not characters. The styling is kept separately from the text, which is why editing the middle of a bold phrase keeps it bold rather than losing the mark.
It survives the journey. Sharing a list, exporting to Markdown, and the share-as-image cards all preserve formatting. See export.
Strikethrough is not canceling. Striking text through is cosmetic. Canceling a thing is a state that stops it carrying over. See complete, cancel, and star.
Tips
- Bold the noun, not the sentence. One or two words is what makes a line scannable.
- Underline sparingly. It reads as a link to most people.
